CRY is a CHRISTIAN CHARITY dedicated to caring for disadvantaged, destitute and suffering children, young people and their families. CRY aims to RESCUE and RESTORE YOUNG LIVES broken by poverty, oppression, exclusion, abuse, and to provide appropriate opportunities for a better future.

CRY is the main vehicle through which KCC ministers to the poor. CRY often works in partnership with our extensive International Outreach connections, so there is a healthy and productive synergy between KCC and CRY. However CRY is a completely separate charity from the church. CRY has its own Board of Trustees, its own Executive Board of Management and its own staff which operate from the church office.

A BIT OF HISTORY

Martyn Dunsford had been ministering in Romania both before and after the end of Communism in Romania. When the desperate plight of the children in the terrible orphanages over there emerged, it was natural that here would be a desire to help them. Martyn began to seek God as to what we needed to do and God's word came, "you can at least CRY for them", and many of us did just that!

Martyn Dunsford and David Farndale, with others in the church, founded CRY in 1992. After a few years of various aid provisions, CRY's first major project was to renovate a derelict building in Bucharest, Romania, to make a home for street children. With no experience of fundraising or working in this way before, we managed to raise £225,000, learned dangerously exciting lessons about working in another culture, and Casa Robin Hood childrens home opened in 1997.

Initially we had no plans to work anywhere else, but we were drawn into helping the refugees of the Kosova war and then we started works in Ukraine and Russia and other eastern European nations. Then in South Africa and the work expanded into over 30 nations.

CRY currently donates around £250-300,000 per annum directly to projects abroad.
