Caroline Gray going to Moldova
On 28th July Caroline Gray is leaving for trip to Moldova with a team from her home church in Horsham, which has been visiting the village of Maloci for the last 10 years. Caroline writes:
“Moldova is a small country situated between Romania and the Ukraine and is one of the poorest countries in Europe. Primarily, our interest is with the young people of this small place; however ultimately we believe that God has called us to strengthen and encourage the church so that it is equipped to minister to the poor and reach people for Christ.
“When the first team from our church went out, one of their primary jobs was to help with its construction. Since then, the small church plant has seen growth, and is using the building to minister and provide for the poorest families in their community. In recent years, they have opened a children’s centre whereby children from poor families are provided with a space to have a hot meal, do their homework and have lessons, and to play! This has impacted the community and is a vital stepping-stone for the Gospel!
“This year, the church in Malcoci has gone through some serious difficulties: Igor Gandea, who is the pastor, suffered a horrific accident that has left him nearly unable to walk. This has put a strain on him and his family - not least his wife, Veronica. However it will also have affected the congregation, as they will not have been able to receive the input that Igor and Veronica so richly give. We continue to pray for Igor and his family, but also for the church.
“This summer, we want to do a camp with the young people from the church in Malcoci. Also, we want to use this time to show unity with our brothers and sisters, and especially Igor and Veronica. We intend to bring resources for them to use in the Children’s Centre, and also for the church itself so that it is more equipped to serve the community.
“We need people to pray for us and we urge you to do so! We are only a small team; however, where we are limited, God will surely show Himself strong and faithful!
Likewise, please pray for the young people and the Moldovan leaders who will be involved in the camp, and of course, the church itself!
“We will be leaving on the 28th July, and will be driving (yes DRIVING!!) to Moldova. There is method in this madness: we intend to bring resources such as sewing machines, music kits and, among other things, laptops for the children’s centre. Naturally these things cost money, so we are always open to anyone who has equipment or resources that they are willing to donate.”
